The iPod sixth generation or 'classic' is the latest in the iPod range. It features a slightly thinner body and improved battery life. The front plate of the iPod is now made of anodized aluminum instead of polycarbonate plastic, and "Signature iPod White" has been replaced by silver. The sixth generation classic also introduced a completely overhauled user interface, incorporating more graphics and Cover Flow.

I bought the 160GB one and LOVE IT its really buggy tho i think im gonna send it in 2 get fixed… not apples fault though its hard 2 sell millions of a product without a few buggy ones getting through.
Mitch on September 19th, 2008 at 2:58 pm says:
ya umm thats a normal thing to be buggy if you think about it because apple makes things WAY ahead of the time and the technology we have can barely support it so of course it aint gonna be perfect and fixing and replacing it will only cost money and time.

I got this one for my birthday just 2 months ago, and have had a few glitches requiring a restore but otherwise this is one of my favorite iPods (I have 3 more, 2 Nanos and a Shuffle). I love how it feels holding it in my hand. I thought it would be too big but it is perfect (I’m a female with fairly large hands LOL). I was hoping to get the 160 or new 120 GB but WalMart was out so I got this one (saved a bit on it too because it’s one of the last 80 GB and 160 GB classics. Almost had it out with a salesperson who said they didn’t have it LOL I was like “I’m sitting here looking at the thing”).

I am confused, I am doing a paper on iPods and there is no such thing as the sixth generation ipod yet, i do know that apple will soon be releasing one, but this is not the sixth generation ipod, it is the classic, but it was just mis-leading seeing it say sixth generation. Just thought I would let you know, and thanks so muc hfor who-ever put up this web-site, cause this is where i am getting most of my information.
Ryan Dacote on June 28th, 2009 at 7:32 pm says:
@Mr. Wilks: The iPod Classic line refers to the flagship iPod (not mini, nano, shuffle, or the like). This is the 6th generation of the classic iPod, called so due to its major upgrades from its predacessor (metal front, coverflow interface). This IS the 6th generation.

I’ve got this and I’m not happy. This is textbook apple big coop bullshit. They added a encryption on the boot loader for this iPod, so it’s impossible to install anything else than the apple inc. firmware. this may seem like a small thing to some, but we are some that tries to get put of the firm grip of software and completely go opensource.
i would recommend users to buy the 5th gen instead

I have had my 160GB iPod for a year and a half now and love it. The only thing I don’t like is that it pauses for a second or two at random. I have wondered why Apple took the 160 off the market and replaced it with a 120, only to very recently re-introduce the 160GB model. Does anyone know?
As to reliability, I carried it around all summer, even on my ATV. But I wasn’t doing crazy stuff on the ATV. Sadly, it’s almost full of tunes and movies.

Answer to TommyT’s question: The problem you described that your ipod was having happed across the country, not a high level but enought to grasp our attention. We re-volked the iPod only to remodel it to please our customers.
