that shake and it shuffles is so retarded. you have to shake it like super hard and most of the time it wouldnt shuffle but just switch straight to cover art flow

I bought one a month after it came out (16gb, black), and it is brilliant. It is everything that I need from a media player, and it is breathtakingly small. You can’t appreciate how small it is until you have one in your hand.

    Highly recommended.

I love this iPod, I bought it about a month ago, and no, it’s not hard to shake it at all. And who says you have to shake it in the first place? Just set it to shuffle…
Either way, this iPod is very hard to beat. Touchscreens are much more annoying than the shake, if you put it in your pocket at the wrong time everything goes wrong. But I love the slim design, and how easily I can slip it into my pocket. Not to mention how seriously the color kicks ass. I know I sound like a nerd typing this, but I’m a nerd who LOVES HIS IPOD =]

I agree, it’s absolutely awesome, I got mine 3 weeks after it came out and it’s sooooo thin, I can’t believe it, my friend has an iPhone and the touch screen sucks, I got a 4 G and mine’s already full!! iPod 4eva!!! :)

  7. Erica Jones on November 5th, 2008 at 8:23 am says:

Got the black 16GB 4th Gen Nano to complete my collection (I also have a 2nd Gen 2GB Shuffle, 3rd Gen 8GB Nano and an 6th Gen 80GB Classic). All of them are my favorites. I swap out between them depending on how much music, etc I want to take with me.

My only beef (and probably everyone else who has one) with the new Nano is that the battery life could stand to be upgraded. All of my other iPods have a better battery life (even the 8GB 3G Nano I left unattended for a month after a software upgrade fiasco). I had to leave it at home on a recent road trip (7 hours round trip) because I forgot my car charger. I took my 80 GB Classic with me.

I love the ipod. Its very comfortable to hold in your hand. I bought the 4gb one so this website forgot the 4. I recommend the nano for everyone its very thin and its new features are very fun.

i bought my iPod 4th generation (8GB, green) about a week ago and i noticed that you have to charge it for about 3 hours but it only stays charged for about 2 and a half hours. it’s not a huge issue but it means that i have to charge it about 2 times every day (yes, i do use it that long). my friend says that hers stays charged longer though.

can someone please tell me why mine has such a short battery life and what i can do to increase it? it will be much appreciated :]

    thank you!

Sounds like you have a dodgy battery – if its still under warranty try sending it back to Apple or take it into your local Apple store – they will be able to recommend what to do.

This model didn’t come in a 4GB capacity. The 3rd Gen Nano came in a 4 GB capacity.

I got the ipod nano 4g and its so freakin awesome! its so thin and really durable. the accelerometer works awesome and it comes with imaze, im addicted to imaze. but its the most cool ipod apple has ever put out. i had the third generation, but it sucked, so i got the ipod 4g and ive never made a better purchase

So the new nano doesnt have good battery life? And does it come with games, like the old one did?
I lovedd my old nano! so i recommending all the new ones and apparently this is better than touch??? … Thanx!

  15. Pete on December 29th, 2008 at 11:06 am says:

The new nano has an improved battery and comes with all the same software as previous iPods.

  16. Keisha on January 2nd, 2009 at 3:44 am says:

This is the BEST ipod ever!
i definitely reccomend it, & if you dont mind colors you should get the Red one, just because every Red ipod you buy it donates to people with Aids, which i think its pretty cool & nice. I got the red one for christmas and i love it, if you want movies and such on your ipod get the 8GB one because I have the 4GB one and it takes up almost all your space after 2 videos under an hour long. I recomend this ipod though, i think its better than the itouch and all the other ones!

I had the 2nd generation nano and now I have the 4th generation one. I hate how now my RoadTrip which I paid an arm and a leg for doesn’t charge it. WTF was apple thinking??? I’m glad that apple as a company is looking out for their customers here.. This is BS.

Some of you have misunderstood the fine print on websites: the 4th generation iPod nano is 8gb and 16gb world wide, but the 4gb model (yes, it does exist) is in limited markets. And I have a classy-sassy looking black 16gig..oh it is so much easier to hold than my 3rd gen nano, and it gives me a greater sense of security knowing that I won’t drop it out of my coat pocket like my iPod touch did (which died for some reason other than dropping it accidentally)

  21. russell on January 25th, 2009 at 8:09 pm says:

Hi. just 1 question how do you charge the 16gb nano without going on to itunes on the pc? this is in the uk whooooo!!

I Have a Blue 8G [it replaces my broken 2nd Gen 2G Shuffle] and I abseloutly adore these things. Cover Flow is easy to access and doesn’t take long, and easier [yes, 3rd gen did have it though] They are slim with a beautiful curve, also comes in awesome colors. I Take mine everywhere I go, I recommend it to everyone.
But, if you have shake enabled, dont put it in a jacket pocket and not hold it.Thats Why I disabled my shake!

Steve, your batterie might be screwed up… Or if your playing games and stuff the whole time you listen to your ipod that will run down the batterie faster than if your just listening to music.

I just got one since I lost my third generation. I got 8gb (pink). I LOVE IT! I love the way you can tilt the screen, and how the cover flow works. I also love the shuffle. And yes, it does come with games. It comes with a new one where you can roll a marble around, it’s fun when you are bored. My sister got one too, and she loves it. Hers is purple. I recommend it. I think it is just as good as the iPod touch, but the iPod touch is more for gaming instead of music. This one is WAY better for music.

When I say ‘shuffle’ I mean I love the way the ipod nano shuffle works.

i got this iPod about a few days after i got into a car crash and ever since then i absolutely love it. its small very compact and it has so much space for music and videos. the videos do take up a lot of space and it wastes the battery life very quickly but other then that i think its amazing. i highly recomend it!!!=D

I bought this iPod used as a “downgrade” from my 5G Classic. What a difference in size and weight! It is so light, and you can easily store it and carry it around without noticing that you have it. I find that the battery life is better than my 5G Classic. I definitely recommend it!

I LOVE THIS I POD!!!!! i got one last year 2 weeks after it came out and wow……mines 8gb and almost full up! it sooo thin and easy to Carrie or slip in your pocket i think the new nano is pointless with the video camera that’s what a camera or phone is for? BUT ANYWAY ITS A GREAT I POD AND I WOULD EASILY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!! <3

Had one 7 months ago. 16G Purple and the only problem is the battery life. It’s too short and the screen’s too small to watch videos. Anyway, it’s super gooood. If you need HANDY MUSIC, well this iPod’s right for you! anyways, there’s 5G coming and it’s way way better. :D

  63. bluenano on October 7th, 2011 at 1:35 am says:

I bought my blue 8G Nano on eBay about two years or so ago. It has become indispensible to me. I use it constantly. Before this I had a 512MB iPod Shuffle, 1st generation, that was gifted to me by my family some Christmases ago. The trouble was that at the time I had a Gateway desktop PC running Windows 98 and the iPod would not interface with it and iTunes doesn’t work with that particular OS. So about two years ago, again, on eBay, I won this Dell Latitude D620 laptop on which I am typing, got rid of the old Gateway desktop, got rid of my old dial-up ISP and went with broadband wireless. Now I could use my iPod Shuffle, only it was so small that I could only hold about one small playlist of music on it. One day by chance I went to eBay and typed in “iPod Nano” and found an auction ending in 30 seconds. I jumped in with a last minute bid and won this beautiful blue iPod Nano, 4th generation, scarcely ever used, so it was practically new. I’d gotten my mom a 5th generation Nano and found myself very desirous of having one like hers, so I won myself a 4th generation Nano and it has become an extension of me. I use it constantly. I have TONS of great music on it and I now feel like I would be lost without it. I have become a dyed in the wool iPod fan. I’ve looked at other .mp3players and none of them was particularly user friendly and they were all too confusing to use. The iPod is so easy a child could do it. And that is what made Steve Jobs such a genius. He knew what we wanted even before we knew what we wanted and he created the products that we snapped up in droves when they were released. iPods to this day dominate the .mp3 player market, and no wonder. The ease of use, the attractiveness and the incredibly small size make them extraordinarily desirable for consumers. I LOVE MY iPOD NANO! Thank you, Steve Jobs. Your life may have ended, but your legacy lives on forever. RIP, Mr. Jobs.
