I have 3 20gb 4th generations with click-wheel. All work fine and are used regularly. One in the car, one connected to home stereo, one in bedroom. Possibly the fact that they don't get jostled much has extended their lives. Rarely have they been used with headphones...just on a few flights I'd take one with me.

Mine froze up once & now the battery discharges in about an hour, whether or not it is being used, but other than that virtually trouble free for five years & thousands of hours of use.

I just got a used one from a friend of mine. Just a classic styling. I never liked the 3rd generation, but my first iPod ever was a Mini (G2). Its amazing how it feels, and how different it is. I love it. Currently trying to resurrect the battery to a good charge...its taking awhile.

I have this model currently. Its alright, bit bulky and its hard to find cases for it theese days. It officially broke about a month ago. Im debating upgrading to the touch or 8G (new) nano. I might possibly consider another 30G Video. Apple gives you so many options!

I've had my 4th gen ipod for a number of years. I really enjoy the portability and fine digital quality audio this little powerhouse (for its time) has delivered to my ears over many, many hours at 40,000 feet on biz travel. Paired up with a set of Bose QC-1 headhones, you couldn't beat that with a stick. Time to move on now, though. I just received a new ipod Touch 8GB by cashing in some Holiday Inn Priority Club points. Finally, a free ipod. Oh yeah, I wore out th QC-1 ear cushions. Upgraded to QC-2's. Another great combo. Rock on Apple, rock on.
